Avocado Mask
Avocados have a ton of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids that help your hair remain shiny and healthier. All you have to do is mash a ripe avocado together with an egg. Leave this mixture in your hair for at least 20 minutes, then rinse until clean. If you want softer hair, add a teaspoon of honey! Do this once a week for normal hair, and twice a week if you have dry or damaged hair.
Egg Head
Egg yolks are loaded with protein! You can either mix one egg yolk with some milk, or just use the egg yolk alone. If you’re using the egg with milk route, let that sit in your hair for about 20 minutes. If you just want to use the egg yolk then mix it with your shampoo and lather once and let that sit for about 10 minutes. The next time you lather only use your shampoo. Incorporate this egg trick into your hair washing routine twice a week for awesome, shiny results!
Do Not Brush Wet Hair
Steer clear of brushing wet hair! Wet hair is weaker than dry hair. If you absolutely have to brush, only use a wide-toothed comb to detangle it. For better results, wait until it’s dry to brush.
Don’t Forget To Deep Condition!
This is a must if you want to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. There are tons of DIY conditioning treatments you can make at home, if you don’t want to go out and buy one!
The Banana Mask
Bananas are amazing when it comes to treating dry hair. They are rich in potassium and Vitamin A. Olive oil is great for adding moisture. Greek yogurt gives the hair a healthy balance of moisture and protein, and it helps soften dry hair strands.
You will need to mix all of these together (Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes):
– 1 banana
– 2-3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
– 1 tablespoon of honey
– 1/4 cup tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
Take A Cold Shower
Cold water helps close the hair cuticles and seal in moisture. If a cold shower is too much for you to handle, start with a warm shower and let your last rinse be with cold water.
Incorporate Coconut Oil
Adding coconut oil into your hair routine is great for dry hair because it helps retain moisture.
Stop Using Heat
Styling tools that require heat are the worst tools for your hair. They dry and fry your hair. All of this leads to breakage, dry hair and split ends. None of it is good. If you must use a hot tool, don’t forget to use a heat protectant spray first.
Stop Washing Your Hair
I mean, wash your hair, but not everyday. Don’t over do it! Too much shampooing can be a cause for dry scalp, dandruff and breakage in the hair. Your hair needs the natural oils it produces every day. If you feel like you need a shower, try using dry shampoo for that fresh hair look.
Use Apple Cider Vinegar
Ditching shampoo altogether might just be the best thing that could ever happen to you. This blogger shared her 6 month experience with using vinegar and baking soda instead of store bought shampoo.
Stop Towel Wrapping Your Hair
Instead of using a towel to wrap your hair, use a t-shirt. T-shirts are light and help soak up the moisture in your hair without making it frizzy. Before using the t-shirt, squeeze the water out of your hair instead of rubbing it dry to prevent breakage.
Scissors Are You Friends
Hair cuts are not something that should be feared! If anything, it’s one of the best things you can do to your hair. Getting a regular trim will not only help your hair grow, but it will keep split ends from emerging!
Shampoo Roots, Condition Ends
“The best way to lather up is from roots to ends. The hair closest to the scalp is the youngest and will inevitably be the oiliest, while the end of the hair is the oldest and usually driest, most fragile part of the hair,” – Kyle White, lead colorist at Oscar Blandi Salon in New York
